Core Concepts of Time Management
The Four Quadrants of Time Management
Based on Stephen Covey’s framework, activities can be categorized into:
- Urgent & Important (Crises, pressing problems)
- Not Urgent but Important (Planning, prevention, relationship building)
- Urgent but Not Important (Interruptions, some calls)
- Not Urgent & Not Important (Time wasters, pleasant activities)
The 80/20 Rule (Pareto Principle)
The principle states that 80% of results come from 20% of efforts. In time management:
- Focus on high-impact activities
- Identify your most productive hours
- Eliminate or delegate low-value tasks

- Administrative tasks
- Breaks and buffer time
